New York based band Elizabeth & The Catapult were recently interviewed on Billboard’s new program, Billboard Underground. They talk about their songwriting process and the music business in between clips of them performing their single, “Momma’s Boy”.
What I like about Elizabeth & The Catapult is that even with the simplicity of their music, they’re able pull off intimate gigs with a minimal set up because the quality of the songs are so good. Clever songwriting indeed. I can’t help but think of Aimee Mann when listening to “Momma’s Boy”, who happens to be one of my favorite singers.
At this point they don’t have a label, so whether or not they’ve had offers yet, they seem pretty happy about where they’re at now. They have full control and the freedom to play what they want at this point, but if I was an A&R rep, I would be making plans to get to one of their gigs pronto!
