New Young Pony Club, Klaxons, CSS and The Sunshine Underground have been selling out shows like crazy. They’ve been touring together around the UK for the NME Indie Rave Tour and seem to be the cats meow amongst live show goers.

Putting on shows like this is such a great idea. It’s easy to find a healthy mix of opinions on the net regarding the NME, either people love ‘em or they loathe ‘em. But you’ve got to hand it to them for helping to support live music regardless. Just by ticket sales alone for these shows, it’s easy to see that they’re helping to give the people what they want.

With the declining CD sales and downloads becoming the norm, it’s so good to see tours selling out. People still want live music which is the beauty of music anyway. The one thing you can’t download is an experience.

So, with that being said, London based band New Young Pony Club has caught my attention. First because I’m a sucker and the name drew me in. Second because they have a female singer and being one myself I’m always on the lookout for other girls in the biz and thirdly…their music is growing on me.

New Young Pony Club have a definite 80’s sound - synths and all, with an indie/electronica/punk mix. If you’re into that idea and are looking for a fun night out then check them out! If you do, let me know how it goes.

Their single “The Bomb” is scheduled for release on March 19th, 2007.
