Acoustic Ladyland set to release new single Cuts and Lies

Acoustic Ladyland is an avant garde jazz band from England and by their name alone, it’s easy to see that they’re Hendrix fans. Their band name is a fun play on words using the title of Jimi Hendrix’s album Electric Ladyland originally released in 1968, to pay homage.
It’s good to see Jimi Hendrix being respected in a creative and musical way as opposed to the latest commercial endeavor by the estate that handles his affairs. I’m appalled to see that they’ve approved his name and image to market the new Liquid Experience drink that’s been heavily reported in the news recently.
I could go on and on about the Hendrix Estate and how poorly I think they’re handling Jimi Hendrix’s image, but that’s not really the point of this entry. The point is, Acoustic Ladyland does a superb job of creating a sound new to many kids today, and hopefully they’ll be able to get their music out to as many people as they can via help from radio, videos etc.
Their latest release, “Cuts and Lies” is coming out soon in the UK. I really hope their video gets TV airtime and I’ll be keeping an eye out for them when they come to play in Oxford.
