Guillemots up for best British Live Act
By Jenny May on Jan 17, 2007 in Bands, Brit Awards, Guillemots, Kasabian, Muse, Robbie Williams
The Guillemots have been nominated for best British Live Act for this year’s Brit Awards. Other nominees in their category include George Michael, Kasabian, Muse and Robbie Williams. Not too bad considering that the Guillemots have been playing for just over two years and in that time have successfully managed to gain the public’s support by continuing to come up with gems of unique songs and an original sound.
It’s a great kudos for any band to be up for best Live Act as with most live acts there’s nothing to hide behind like a good producer or re-takes when making recordings. Of course with that being said, it’s not to diminish the quality of recordings by up and coming bands.
With how quickly things are changing in the music industry like easy access of downloads and accessibility of bands on websites like Myspace, it seems the live act has become more of the original art piece that music has always meant to be.
It’s important for fans to continue to go out to shows and support their favorite bands by seeing them play live. The unexpected can happen at shows - and each one is different. After all, music has always been about the experience.
