Fall Out Boy recently caught my attention when they released their latest single, “This Ain’t a Scene, It’s an Arms Race” in November. They’ve written a very well put together R&B pop song with a twist - unlike Fall Out Boy’s usual rock/pop/emo sound.
I never thought that they would one day be producing a song that sounds a bit like a combination of Montell Jordan’s “This Is How We Do It” and a Justin Timberlake track - but that just goes to show you can’t always pin a band down to one ideal. Considering Fall Out Boy has only been together for six years since forming in Chicago in 2000, there’s still plenty of time to grow.
Now they’ve got a new video to go along with “This Ain’t a Scene, It’s an Arms Race” and they’re currently doing the rounds, with the video premiering last night on MTV and TRL.
The single is off of their fourth studio album Infinity on High which won’t be released until February 2007. They had to push the release date back from the end of 2006 and I’m curious to see how this will affect sales. That’s a long wait for an album - three months after the debut single was released. Most likely though, their fans and the buzz surrounding their new sound will support them along the way.
