The Rolling Stones and their Holiday Tongues

The Rolling Stones have been making headlines recently for having the most successful tour of 2006. Their A Bigger Bang tour brought in about $437 million which is something worth batting an eye at.
Their website on the other hand isn’t full of the exciting tour news that’s been making it’s way around the net or pats on the back for a job well done, instead it’s full of tongues and lots of ‘em. It’s all about Christmas at the Rolling Stones’ online store right now. The news over there is that there are Holiday Specials going on and if you’re quick you might be able to get yourself a brand new Santa hat to wear Christmas morning. There are stockings, stocking stuffers, mugs, hats and more for sale, all proudly displaying the Rolling Stones’ Tongue logo.
It’s easy to take for granted the Tongue and Lip design and it’s association with the Stones - but coming up with a great logo idea and making it stick isn’t as easy for bands to do as it may seem. The Stones have made it look easy - and for many when they think of the Rolling Stones, they also think of the Tongue.
Trivia: Ever wondered about who came up with the Rolling Stones’ “Tongue and Lip Design”? Some people have mistakenly thought that Andy Warhol created the design (he did design two album covers) but the actual designer was John Pasche in 1971.
