The Dykeenies From Glasgow Are Waiting For Go

The Dykeenies - Waiting For GoThere’s been quite a buzz lately about the Glasgow based indie pop band The Dykeenies. I can’t say enough about the quality of bands that have been coming out of Scotland lately - particularly Glasgow. The Dykeenies have just released their debut EP, “Waiting For Go” on Lavolta Records. Featured on the EP is lead track “Waiting For Go” with “Things You Cannot See”, “Feels Like Sleep” and “Dark Time”.

The Dykeenies are made up of three brothers and two friends: Brian (vocals/synths), Alan (guitar), Andrew Henderson (bass) - and Steven Ramsay (guitar) and John Kerr (drums). They just formed in the summer of 2005 so things have been moving quickly for the band, with their debut EP released this week. They’ve got a great sound and have already been working with some big names on their “Waiting For Go” single, which was produced by Jim Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys/Kasabian/Editors) and mixed by Cenzo Townshend (New Order/U2/Kaiser Chiefs).

They’ve played sold out shows in Scotland and have supported acts like Maximo Park, The Fratellis and Mystery Jets. The Dykeenies are currently touring in Scotland and have also scheduled a tour for early next year.

*Trivia - The Dykeenies’ name comes from a phrase in the fantasy film, “Willow”.
