Country Band Ambush Win Canadian Reality TV Show Plucked

After a simple search on Google News using the search term “band” the first story to come up in the queue was about Canadian country band Ambush. Apparently they have just been announced the winner of CMT Canada’s reality show ‘Plucked’, which by the way I had never heard of until now. It’s funny the things you can find doing random searches on the internet.

Since moving to England from the states four years ago, there are times when I feel out of touch with stateside and Canadian music news and I guess this is one of those times. I’m not a huge country music fan but I do try to keep tabs on what’s going on in Nashville and I will turn up the volume for Johnny Cash, Willie or Patsy Cline - but with over 100,000 Canadian viewer votes it’s a shame the news of Ambush ‘getting Plucked’ wasn’t made a bigger deal over seas. Surprisingly though, we do get the American CMA awards over here, but they’re usually not televised until about a week after the live show.

Now that Ambush has won the contest, the video for their song, “This Could Be the Night” will be added to regular rotation on CMT Canada and they’ll receive $35,000 to make their next video. The other contestants on Plucked were Carla Sacco, Pear, Aaron Goodvin, Mike Gouchie and Lisa Hewitt.

From Eastern Ontario, Canada Ambush consists of Mark McDonell, Riq Turner and Jim Wright. To learn more about “the little band with the big sound” go to their Official website: www.getambushed.com or their Myspace page.
