A friend of a friend suggested that I take a listen to this country act that has some connections to Oxford called The Piney Gir Country Roadshow. With the ‘complexity’ of their name upon hearing it for the first time my friend had to write their name down on a crumpled piece of paper so that he would remember - as this was apparently an important find. Of course once used to saying and hearing the name Piney Gir a few times it’s easy for it to become a natural addition to anyones vocabulary. As well as their music to anyones cd or mp3 collection.

Some might find it hard to understand why a country act would be listed on a trendy band website such as this. Well there’s an easy explanation. They’re good. They’re very good and the singer is a girl from Kansas now living in England which to me is trendy enough to warrant a mention even without hearing their music first. But luckily the music is what holds my interest as it’s true quality shines from song to song.

They’re playing all over the place between now and the end of the year and if you want to catch them, most of their shows are in London.
